Private Island® Entertainment, The Candy Bar Team Up To Help Children’s Charities
Two Astoria businesses team up to help children's charities.
Two Astoria-based businesses, Private Island® Entertainment LLC and The Candy Bar have teamed up to facilitate an Easter Party for children. The event will be for Astoria-based Hour Children and Manhattan-based Carnival of Love Foundation. The party will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at The Candy Bar, 19-31 Ditmars Blvd., Astoria, N.Y.
“This event will benefit children who might not otherwise have a joyous Easter celebration,” explained Randy Klein, owner of The Candy Bar. Children from Hour Children (http://www.hourchildren.org), and the Carnival of Love Foundation (carnival of love.org), are scheduled to attend the Easter party, she noted.
Hour Children acknowledges the important hours that shape the life of a child with an incarcerated mother. The organization’s mission is to end the cycle of intergenerational incarceration and help incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women and their children successfully rejoin the community, reunite with their families and build healthy, independent and secure lives. The Carnival of Love Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to raising funds and awareness to enhance the quality of life, health and well-being of children in need.
In addition to being a confectionery retailer, The Candy Bar is a neighborhood venue for children’s parties and other family and corporate events.
Private Island® Entertainment LLC is an Astoria-based party supply company, founded in 2009 by CEO Jonathan Glatt. The company provides costumes, accessories, and supplies for theme-based parties and events.
“Easter is a time of year where your focus is on your family and on children,” according to Glatt. Glatt has donated Easter Baskets, their contents, food, and beverages. The Easter Basket contents will feature candy and fun products to help these children have a more joyous Easter. The Candy Bar is hosting the party and contributing the space and games.
“Parties that benefit charities are one way to give back to the community,” Klein added.
